*16 Days Campaign VAW Survey - 2014*



Thank you for your participation in the 16 Days of Activism Against
Gender-Based Violence Campaign! To help develop future campaign strategies
based directly on lessons learned and knowledge gathered from participants,
it is crucial that we receive your inputs about your experiences with the
Campaign.

The 16 Days Campaign continues to be used by activists, policymakers,
United Nations entities, and government, all of whom are allies in seeking
an end to gender-based violence and militarism and the intersectional
linkages these issues have with violations of political, economic and
social rights and impunity. Gender-based violence affects everyone, in
every culture and country globally, and the 16 day period between November
25th to December 10th serves to highlight, focus on, and emphasize this
reality and the thousands of gender justice allies working 365 days of the
year on its elimination.

We move forward cognizant that while 16 days is a period of intense
advocacy, for the remainder of the year, we work to challenge the
foundations of patriarchy – the vessel system which manufactures the
dehumanization and discrimination of women and other genders; condones and
encourages violent masculinity as the only form of masculinity; and
requires physical, sexual, cultural, economic, and social violence as the
source of power over people.
