I post below, both for those who've asked cc. what is going on with/in Pacifica, 
and for those who might be able to comment usefully on my concern, that unless 
"community radio" is able to recognize and come to terms with the prolonged 
plight of Pacifica, smaller efforts along the lines first explored there, will be 
either irrelevant to, inadequate for, or thwarted from forming any greater whole ?

( in terms I know best, the analogy is with the plight of the overwintering 
masses of Monarch butterflies, an astounding biological phenomenon 
long impacted and now imminently imperilled, to which an adequately 
comprehensive and coordinated response is urgently necessary, yet 
what is called for all too frequently is for individuals to plant milkweed 
patches; -- not only a pitifully inadequate answer to the emergency but 
an impediment to recognition of its sources, and scope and scale . . . )
