GENERAL MANAGER

Community Radio Station for Boise and Beyond Seeks General Manager

Radio Boise (KRBX), seeks a General Manager after finishing its fourth year
of terrestrial operations and filling the biggest community radio service
gap in the country. With two FM frequencies, serving over 500,000 people in
Southwest Idaho, a cutting edge studio and performance space, and active
social media and web streaming, Radio Boise is positioned as an emerging
cultural institution in one of the West’s most attractive and influential
urban centers.

Radio Boise’s General Manager (GM) reports directly to the board of
directors and is responsible for leading the next phase of the
organization’s rapid growth. The GM will work with the board and staff to
identify new development and programming opportunities to further the
mission of the station, while being accountable for fiscal, administrative
and managerial responsibilities. This position requires a participatory
leadership approach that empowers staff and appreciates the benefits of a
large volunteer pool. The GM also serves as the organization’s main
representative to the community and is responsible for communicating the
mission and philosophy of KRBX to all stakeholders.

*GM Duties*

·         Oversee, evaluate and, when necessary, develop new initiatives in
four main phases of station operations: development, business, programming
and operations;

·         Manage part-time staff of seven and conduct personnel oversight
and review;

·         Raise awareness of KRBX in all sectors of the philanthropic
community and expand current support bases by implementing major gifts and
grants-based income strategies;

·         Prepare and implement the station’s annual program work plan and
budget;

·         Provide reports, assistance and expertise to the board as needed;

·         Build collaborative alliances with community groups and other
external stakeholders.



*Qualifications - a well-positioned candidate will have:*

·         Prior leadership and management experience in mixed-format
community radio or executive-level nonprofit management including budgeting
and strategic planning;

·         Proven major gifts and grant-writing experience with successful
implementation of other diversified noncommercial radio development
strategies;

·         Personnel and volunteer management experience;

·         Journalistic ethic and familiarity with trends in digital and
public media;

·         Excellent personal and professional references.



*Additional Skills Desired:*

·         Salesforce and Natural Log software packages; Wordpress web
platform

·         General familiarity with broadcast engineering concepts
