Hi All,     What a great idea! Let me know how I can contribute. I have created quite a few presentations that cover many of the various topics in Production, Management and Legal outlined below. I also suggest adding Writing for Radio. This would cover writing PSAs, Promos, Underwriting and most importantly News/Disaster reporting/writing. We could include "From Paper to Air" that Betty and I presented too.
I also see an opportunity for people to share their expertise in securing tower sites, studio space, etc. Obtaining local clearances and permits...this is a vital part of information that seems to be over-looked, and is desperately needed.

Here is the Listening Party presentation I created for last year's GRC.Cheers!

 Subject: [grc] Mini-GRC draft outline

Hey everyone!

David and I did some brainstorming on what we thought might make a good
topic list. Of course we should stick to topics that attendees will want
and also that people are willing to present. This list is just a start
and might actually be too much for a short 1.5-2 day quick hands-on
style event. Here goes anyway...

Who?
-LPFMs with a CP and a lot to figure out to make it happen.

Why?
-To jumpstart as many LPFM stations primarily from a technical
  standpoint.
-Possible barn-raising of the “host” station and barn raising “shared
experience” where “off barn” participants also leave with something
tangible (e.g., hardware, thumb drives, etc.)
 -Education, education, education!
-This is more of a hands-on workshop than the semi-annual GRC
  get-togethers

What?

Technical
-From Microphone to Antenna: What equipment and how to connect it.
*what goes where in the audio chain
  *what is an “audio chain”?
  *best practices for wiring
  *equipment lists
-Regulatory requirements (see below for more)
  *EAS
  *signal
  *Etc.

Production
 -Basic audio editing using Audacity
-Pressing the big red button… or How to use a studio!
-What is Rivendell Automation: From traffic logging to source
  switching.
 -News Gathering
 -Etc.

Management
 -Volunteer practices, agreements, and handbooks
 -Management structures
 -Etc.

Legal
 -Station requirements
 -filings
 -Public File
 -political issues
 -Logs
 -allowable language on air
 -advertisement vs underwriting announcement
 -Royalties
  *BMI, ASCAP, Sesac
  *SoundExchange (streaming)
 -Etc.

Where/When?
