 Subject: [grc] mini-GRC?

I am wondering if there are enough LPFM stations that are interested in
a mini-GRC that is geared towards a hands-on get them on the air topic list.

It is a LOT of work for a station to put together the normal GRC. What I
am wondering is if we can put together a mini version that is built with
"hands-on" workshops geared toward getting LPFMs on the air! This would
be only one or one and a half days. David Klann and I are willing to put
together the presenters and schedule. What we would need is for a host
station to line up 'classroom' space and a list of resources for food,
lodging, etc. This would remove most of the work for the host station
especially since they will not have to line up food and entertainment
for attendees.

If there is interest and the presenters are capable of the travel we
could do this in several locations (east coast, midwest, west coast) to
reach the greatest number of LPFMs.

I see the presentations, being specific, on-topic, and mostly technical
and regulation oriented. Some examples might be...

- Audio wiring - the spaghetti from microphone to transmitter
- Emergency Alert System (EAS) - legal requirements and setup
- Building and maintaining the public file and other required documents
- Transmitter installation and monitoring
- webstreaming
- Audio production and editing

By limiting the scope and the resources that the host station needs to
put in, I hope that we can keep the cost for attendees very low as well.
If the only substantial cost that needs to be recouped by the group is
the 'classroom' space fees, that should help.

Another idea is that we could ideally do these *AT* an LPFM that's
working toward getting on the air so that the demonstrations and
workshops end with the switch being thrown on the xmitter! A good, old
fashioned barn raising.

What say you?
Is anyone interested in attending?
Is anyone interested in presenting?
Is anyone interested in hosting?
