Actually,
It's a good idea to have 3 key paid positions to start, at reduced "salaries"
Engineer/OperationsGMAccountant
With proper training: Underwriting reps, Development can, through agreement work on Commission-only to start.Your Engineer/Ops should be 1/2 time, and available on-call (thus the stipend)Your Accountant should be available 1/4 time and be responsible for overall accounting practices according to Texas Non-profit Laws. And, yes...last, but not least (hope I don't make too many folks mad) The GM..the GM should be on a half-time reduced salary
The reason you plan big, but keep modest in the first 3 years is to ensure the station is solvent, before "hiring" much more.

Subject: [grc] Planning for affording staff
Since we are beginning to plan for a capital campaign to build our station in Wimberley, I've been advised that we should build into our campaign the funding requirements for a full-time staff person for two years.
I assume that core paid staff member for a start-up station would be the station manager. Yes?
So let me ask, what is the typical annual salary with any benefits for station manager for an LPFM community radio station? Do salaries vary a lot regionally? What about for station size and stage of development?
