[grc] GRC 2015

From the north shore of Lake Superior (KTWH-LP):
We start-ups in the boonies have been following with interest all the
discussions about mini or full GRC's and the various thoughts on the
ideal location and time. We are not experienced enough to host a GRC,
and are also logistically challenged by being in a small town far from
major populations. We'd simply suggest that for the many newbie LPFM's
struggling to get on the air within our CP windows (ours is early
August), we'd welcome at least a mini-GRC, as soon as possible. Our
station would prefer a Midwest site but appreciate that there are many
considerations, including a willing host and a location and time that
the most experienced presenters find acceptable. We welcome hearing soon
about prospects for the mini and/or full GRC wherever is agreeable to
most of you.
There's so much still to learn, and valuable people contacts to make,
for us start-up operations.
Just a few things on our plates include:
copyright/licensing issues for on-air and web show, lit readings,
radio theater and live events; fundraising issues- from pledge drives to
underwriting rules to benefit events; a million tech things from FCC
protocols on logs and EAS/CAP to station automation, digital libraries
and streaming; and effective programmer training and policies.
Thanks everyone for stepping up,
Leo Babeu

In all of the years of GRCs there has only been one time when two organizations wanted to do it the same summer. They resolved it between themselves, and one decided to wait until the next year. In most things GRC, there is no official process, we are just a loose coalition of people way into grassroots community radio.
