[grc] Disclaimers, "Any views & opinions you hear are not necessarily . . ."

Whether you use a disclaimer or not, when you are encouraging safe social discourse between differing opinions, the disclaimer becomes a vehicle to inform listeners that they may hear something they don't agree with. Having said that, I always advise Public Affairs Hosts to add to the disclaimer, a call to action...by encouraging listeners to participate, whether they agree or not, just maximizes a station's accessibility by giving your listeners an "open door" to engagement...which is exactly in line with every true community radio station's mission.

It has been my experience that these are not government required
disclaimers but rather put in place by the management of the station to
protect it from any possible backlash from the public. It allows the
station to be unbiased & air content that comes from many perspectives. We
are a public access TV station so we do not censor content & encourage our
community to submit any and everything. We can not do that successfully if
we appear to be biased towards any particular way of thinking.
