[grc] Best way to test a used BW TX300 V2 FM Transmitter?

Do you have a dummy load capable of 300W? I would put a DL on the output, and audio in the input, and turn it on. Start with minumum power, check the status, reflected power, temperature. Then I would go to full power, again checking status. Then I'd let it run for a day, keeping an eye on temperature, etc. You can listen to it on a receiver, check its audio processor settings, check the remote control, maybe set up some alarms, and see if you actually get an alarm. Check the log files if it’s set up for them, you may find out what it was doing last time the transmitter was on. If log files aren’t enable, enable them, so you can see if it’s getting hot. AFAIK it doesn’t display temperature on the remote control interface, but does log it.

A concert producer probably doesn’t necessarily have any experience with transmitters, but if he wants to check it out, there’s probably no harm in that.

I take care of one of these for another station, it’s proven to be reliable, only once it locked up and to be power cycled, that was after some power glitch.
