Attached please find a call for manuscripts for a special issue in the *Howard
Journal of Communication *on the theme, "Kerner @ 50: Communication and the
Politics of Race in the United States," which will commemorate the 50th
anniversary of the Kerner Commission Report in 2018.  *There is a tight
deadline of Oct 31, 2017.*

We are seeking both scholarly manuscripts and commentaries -- the second is
particularly designed for practitioners in the field who would like to
reflect on the meaning of the theme, from the stand point of those working
in the news media.  Professor Lamb and I (co-editors of this special issue)
would appreciate it if you would circulate our call to all you know who
might be potential contributors.  We are happy to answer questions:
