Greetings Friends,

Todd continues to be in critical condition in La Crosse, though a bit
more stable. The docs warn that the third through the fifth days are
when brain injury patients have further swelling. Todd is no different.
I'm pasting this morning's FB post here for you. Oh, and did I mention
the four broken ribs along with his punctured lung?

Day 5 in Critical Care. Each day Todd is here brings more hope and
more questions. He will remain on a paralytic through the day to
keep the pressures down in his brain. As they keep his brain
pressure somewhat stable, they are shifting concerns to his lungs
and risk of pneumonia as he is on a ventilator, is kept flat due to
the spine injury and has a punctured lung. The critical care team at
Gundersen has been amazing at this balancing act of treatment. It is
amazing what can be done with medical intervention.

And from yesterday morning, this encouraging news:

So many moments yesterday that I will cherish... Continued
outpouring of support and love -- a brief moment of Todd opening his
eyes and a squeeze of my hand -- reminders that my son, Leo,saved
Todd's life and has given us extra time with him -- ice cream.

I encourage you to follow Heather Fisher Wallin if you're on the face
book. This is her easiest way to keep folks informed. I'll keep posting
here for those who don't book the face...

Love,

  ~David Klann
