[grc] Relationships with Venues

It's a bit unclear what you have in mind. If you want to broadcast the concert live from the stage, that will primarily have to be approved by the artist management company and for an artist that big they will not be enthused about it. The venue would be the least of your problems for that. All artists above garage bands have contract riders with venues that specifically prohibit recording them live from stage. The bigger the artist, the more the venue must cater to them to get the gig and then keep them and their booking agency happy so they and other artists with the same agency keep playing there. We've had a lot of venues here get blackballed for a variety of reasons, so it's a real concern.

But if it's an interview you want, that's also handled by the band management, specifically the promotions team. They will typically want that earlier in the day to help get more people to the show. Again, artists above garage bands get a percentage of the door proceeds after breakeven so the higher the turnout, the more money they make.

This comes from experience of putting on concerts for 10+ years of all sizes. It's a strange industry not well understood.

Thanks. I don't want to USE the venue. I just want my hosts to be able to cover the events, possibly get an interview.
