UNESCO’s General Conference, at its 36th session, proclaimed World Radio
Day on 13 February.
For this year the World Radio Day focus is on Sports!
What's shocking is that only 7% of sports people who are seen or heard in
the media are women! And only 4% of media stories focus on women's sports.
Here is a recent WINGS program you might like to air:
WINGS #26-17 Moving the Goalposts
*Football (soccer) empowers Kenyan girls and young women*

*UNESCO notes radio is specifically suited to reach remote communities and
vulnerable people: the illiterate, the disabled, women, youth and the poor,
while offering a platform to intervene in the public debate, irrespective
of people’s educational level. Furthermore, radio has a strong and specific
role in emergency communication and disaster relief.*
