This move on the part of Humboldt State University has torn the guts out of KHSU. It is a huge blow to the community that depended on KHSU as their public/community radio station.
KMUD local news did an excellent story on its newscast Thursday, April 11 at 6pm. http://archive.kmudfm.org/archive/index.php <http://archive.kmudfm.org/archive/index.php>
There are many mourning the loss of KHSU.

All Things Considered Saturday (usually 5-6pm) was repeated at 6. Usually at 6pm Saturday there’s a great music show, but no more. No local breaks whatsoever, no underwriting announcements, no weather update, no promos apart from those included in the NPR shows. This morning the same, only the station ID as read by former host Natalia Estrada

> About these links: kymkemp.com <http://kymkemp.com/> is our excellent local news site Red Headed Blackbelt. Kym Kemp, the founder and operator of this family business does a great job of keeping the community informed, she’s often faster than any other media, including KMUD. Lost Coast Outpost is a blog owned by a Lost Coast Communications, which operates four FM radio stations in the greater Eureka, CA area, based in the town of Ferndale. Mad River Union is an independent paper (yes, in print!). Times Standard is a daily MediaNews Group paper. Northcoast Journal is an independent free weekly.

> I have listened to and supported this station for decades, I’ve helped them during pledge drives a couple of times, but I stopped sending money last year when they abruptly fired their longtime program director Katie Whiteside without explanation. She was the one keeping the station together through many changes of general managers, and she “gets” radio.

It appears to be the conclusion of a long stretch of conflict <http://acrnewsfeed.blogspot.com/search?q=KHSU> at KHSU, including a volunteer seeking the engineer's help to sabotage the station.
