Calling All Radio Stations,

Across great distances and silent divides, voices are colliding,
reflecting, and intertwining with one another to create a great
cacophony of American sound. From politics to social revival, our
collective action and unified movement are shaping the American
landscape in ways that are yet unknown. Emerging from an inspiring
Grassroots Radio Conference in Rochester, New York, so eloquently
planned by WXIR, WAYO, and EL Poder, many of us are feeling the magic of
our frequencies, the powerful connectivity of our stations.

2020 approaches and we community radio stations can no longer afford to
sell ourselves short. Instead, we must harness our energy and our
collective power to amplify the voices of our people. The upcoming year
will be a test in our ability to educate and activate our neighbors to
participate in the decision making that will effect all of our lives.

WXOX 97.1 FM Louisville would be honored to host the Grassroots Radio
Conference in 2020. Our station could not exist without this annual
event and we recognize the power of this gathering to extend & amplify
the power of community voices. Louisville is a interesting, inclusive,
and centrally located city within driving distance to many US stations.
Likewise, The Muhammad Ali International Airport is easily manageable
and very accessible. There are many transportation and lodging options
in our city that can accommodate any taste or budget. The GRC has never
been to this part of the country, rich with radio activity. WXOX,
powered by over 120 volunteers, is willing to take on the intense
challenge of hosting this important conference in a such critical year.
In addition to important seminars on engineering, programming,
fundraising, and station development, we would work to make sure the
2020 conference includes special sessions on voter education and
engagement.

Louisville is home to three LPFM Stations and the Center for
Investigative Journalism. We are a short drive from the Voice of
America Museum, and we offer a multitude of other media opportunities.
In addition to horse-racing and bourbon-tasting our city is a hotbed of
cultural activity. The Ali Center, American Printing House for the
Blind, Louisville Slugger Museum, and the original 21C Museum/Hotel are
but a few of the unique sites our beautiful city has to offer. We'd love
to have you here, enjoying the adventures of this pioneering town seated
on the edge of the frontier.

Community Radio broadcasts the sound of Democracy and 2020 will be the
year to crank it up! Together we can make great things happen
nationwide. I am proud to be a part of this incredible league of
stations and collection of powerful individuals. Thank you all for your
time, friendship, and work on behalf of American voices. Stay
committed, stay unified, and stay strong. See you in 2020!!!!

In Solidarity,

Sharon Scott, Co-Founder

“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not
something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of
friendship, you really haven't learned anything.” ~ Muhammad Ali
