In conjunction with Louisville Literary Arts and Kentucky Humanities, 
ART FM has been hosting a series of free  poetry workshops at our 
studio.  The focus has been on voter rights, specifically the 19th 
Amendment and the Voter Rights Act.  IN OTHER WORDS offers participants 
opportunities to communicate with issues of identity, heritage, and the 
fight for equal rights, as well as develop their own unique voice and 
carnality in response, (re)discovering their own legacies of resistance 
and change.

Tonight, we will host a reading and exhibition for anyone in the 
Louisville area to attend.

November 5th is a big day in Kentucky -- we are hoping for a new 
Governor. We will have the poets in studio throughout this Election Day 
reading their poems over the airwaves. They are powerful and engaging. 
They make one feel the importance of truly democratic voting and the 
struggle makes it possible. As such, the IN OTHER WORDS poems may be 
something you are interested in running on your station as we head into 
the big year.  We will have the recordings available on Pacifica 
Audioport shortly after they are read. I will let you know when they are 
posted.
