Grassroots Radio Conference - Virtual Summit 2020

Hey, there! What’s been going on the past few months?  
Anything…INTERESTING? Of course, all of us have been living in truly 
extraordinary times recently.  And, even though the circumstances have 
changed considerably since the last time GRC got together, it is more 
important than ever to collect ourselves and share ideas.  The very 
nature of the present state of affairs has necessitated an entirely 
different gathering than there has been previously. Indeed, the fact 
that we cannot congregate in person is one of the most important 
subjects of this summit.

The very nature of Grassroots Community Radio is more important now than 
ever.  People around the world are making their voices heard, and 
community radio is helping to amplify their message. Perhaps the most 
important U.S. Presidential election in modern times is upon us. And a 
global pandemic is affecting lives in ways no one could have even 
imagined. These three current events have intertwined and created the 
foundations for discussion within the Grass Roots Conference.  Because 
of the current conditions, GRC must delay gathering in person. So for 
the first time ever, we are holding a preliminary conference online.

This fall, October 9th - 11th, ARTxFM / WXOX Louisville will host a 
virtual assembly for GRC members. The three subjects of global pandemic, 
protests for justice and equality, and the upcoming presidential 
election will be considered, with ample opportunity for input by all 
attendees.  We are currently welcoming knowledgeable speakers on these 
topics:

                          The Pandemic: How to Broadcast Safely & 
Responsibly
                          The Protests: Amplifying Equality & Justice for 
All
                          The President: Energizing the Electorate 
Through the FM Dial

If you have expertise in these issues, we would be delighted to invite 
you to help lead the discussion.

There will be plenty of occasions to socialize virtually and get 
reacquainted with old friends, as well as connect with new ones.  ARTxFM 
will also have live streaming entertainment in the evenings, showcasing 
some of the Louisville community’s finest performers.  And PLENTY more!

Do set the date for this important assemblage. This Grassroots Radio 
Conference will actually be the EASIEST to attend in its history.  You 
don’t have to travel, you don’t need to book a room…heck, you don’t even 
need to get out of your pajamas!  We look forward to seeing all of you 
October 9th through the 11th as we extend our Kentucky Hospitality to 
the Grassroots Radio Community.  We’ll see ALL Y’all here!
