Dear Radio Comandantes,

Greetings from Louisville where we are on the front lines of a Social 
Revolution!  It is an exciting time to be in radio and I hope you all 
are using your powers to their fullest potential to raise awareness and 
fight for justice within your communities. Community radio is more 
important than ever right now!  Our frequencies are POWERFUL and it is 
critical that we stand together during these trying times.

Since the outbreak of this this pandemic many of us began connecting in 
ways we have not done before. . . . through online meetings, meet-ups, 
and more. It is undeniable that we live in new and different times. 
Currently in the midst of two National Emergencies, all of our stations 
are vastly different than they were just a few months ago.

That’s why it would make sense for the Grassroots Radio Conference 2020 
to look vastly different than any Radio conference that has gone before! 
  A conference that engages stations around the world and opens new lines 
of communication between them.  A conference that brings us together to 
discuss critical issues of our day while keeping our staff safely social 
distanced.  In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, WXOX proposes that the 
2020 Grassroots Radio Conference meet virtually this year.

While it would be a shame not to see everyone in-person, we think this 
could be an interesting experience and exciting opportunity for GRC. By 
hosting the conference online, we will be able to create an online 
treasury of panels and tutorials that will be useful for many years to 
come.  Likewise, meeting virtually may be a way to get other stations 
involved with the conference who’s budgets and schedules have not 
afforded attendance in the past.

We very much hope that once the pandemic is over, we will be able to 
bring everyone to Louisville and that all future conferences will be 
able to meet in person.  Being together is, of course, the very best 
thing about the GRC.

Please let us know what you think about this idea. Alternatively, if 
everyone would still like to meet in person, we would defer to another 
station that felt they could do the hosting safely.  Your feedback is 
important in determining how we approach this adventure. Please take a
