TITLE: DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
STATUS: EXEMPT/ FULL TIME
SALARY: $55,000 per year
BENEFITS: COMPANY PAID MEDICAL, DENTAL, 403B
DEFINITION: The Development Director will work under the supervision of the General Manager. The general functions for this position will coordinate and implement all development activities, including ongoing giving programs and special campaigns, assist management team in preparing and maintaining annual station budget, manage development and membership department staff and volunteers, and development vendor contracts and services and the purchase and/or acquisition of development supplies and equipment, operate as part of a management team within the station, including the General Manager, Program Director, Business Manager, etc., and work in conjunction with the Local Advisory Board, and Pacifica’s National Development staff, promote the value and needs of the station to its communities of current and potential financial support, in accordance with management goals and objectives. This is a full-time exempt management position.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee our database system to coordinate and implement all development activities and reports.
2. Analyze all revenue activities; recommend revenue upgrading activities and implement approved recommendations.
3. Serve on On-air Fundraising Team to plan, schedule and implement On-Air Drives and donor cultivation, solicitation, acquisition, upgrading and renewal.
4. Plan, schedule, implement and monitor all Off-Air Listener Support cultivation, including social media and E-Blast campaigns with PD and GM.
5. Plan, schedule and implement all planned giving efforts and major gift and capital campaigns.
6. Plan, schedule and implement institutional funding strategy involving private, community and public sector grant makers.
7. Assist management team in preparing the budget.
8. Prepare the fundraising plan, calendar (schedule), and the fundraising revenue and expense budget for development.
9. Review and monitor monthly development revenue and expenses, on a project-by-project basis, by tracking results, reporting results, evaluating performance of fundraising vehicles and fundraising plan and making necessary adjustments.
10. Manage development and membership staff.
11. Hire, supervise and regularly evaluate development and membership staff and volunteers according to station policies and procedures.
12. In accordance with the General Manager’s objectives, represent development needs and opportunities to Local Station Advisory Board, and the Finance Committee of that Board.
13. Coordinate and implement training for Local Advisory Board members in development responsibilities.
14. Promote the value and needs of the station to its communities of current and potential financial support.
15. Prepare as appropriate annual station report of activities and funding; positioning statements; and marketing for targeted use for specific development, public relations, or promotional plans.
16. Identify and act upon growth opportunities outside the current scope of fundraising activities

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: College degree or equivalent; 6 – 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Managing and implementing techniques for membership solicitation, on-air fundraising, and major gifts. Ability to handle intricate details and track overall station calendar.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to create and manage a strategic development and marketing plan. Must be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to management multiple priorities and meet deadlines in demanding surroundings. The Development Director is expected to provide leadership in a teamwork environment.
Mental Abilities: Ability to think clearly and manage multiple changing priorities and remain pleasant and positive. Requires critical thinking and ability to support people with difficult challenges. Requires good judgment.

SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Schedule: Weekdays (Monday-Friday) at 30+ hrs per week
Currently: $23.64 / hr + annual seniority increase; 403B; company paid health benefits & pension
Location: Berkeley, CA
Overview:
KPFA is a listener supported FM radio station in Berkeley, CA operating several FM transmitters, translators, and Autonomous System 397715 in the SF Bay Area
We are looking for an enthusiastic Audio and Network Systems Engineer to co-manage and develop our current technical infrastructure as we work to implement new tools and technologies. Along with the Chief Engineer and Transmitter Engineer you will complete the Engineering Team in supporting our shows and station with a reliable technical foundation.
Roles & Responsibilities:
· First responder to technical issues impacting air, staff workflow; escalating issues for remediation to the Chief Engineer if appropriate
· Monitor all LAN, WAN, broadcast radio, and computer network infrastructure for availability and reliability
· Set up email, network, domain, phone, and door access accounts
· Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
· Troubleshoot issues and outages
· Conduct system installations, including configurations, testing, and maintenance on both software and hardware
· Audio Engineer recordings as needed, providing oversight during live productions
· Ensure normalized program material is delivered to air consistently through regular equipment, documentation, communication, and system evaluations
· Resolve analog and digital audio quality issues in the production and broadcast chain
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Desire to learn, grow, and expand understandings of interconnected technical systems
· Experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role, 2yr min.
· Comfortable with Windows, Linux, BSD Environments and related technology toolkits
· Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
· Familiarity with audio editing software (SoundForge, Audacity, Audition,Hindenburg)
· Possess excellent listening and communication skills to collaborate with others
· Professional certifications (CCNP, MCSA, SBE Certified Audio Engineer) are a plus
· Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (php,js,perl,python,bash) are a plus
· Experience in a broadcast facility or audio production is a plus
· Ability to lift rack mounted equipment and adjust cables in tight spaces
