i have used youtube-dl, which ran into trouble with the RIAA last month:
<https://github.blog/2020-11-16-standing-up-for-developers-youtube-dl-is-back/>
it works from the command line, and may not be the easiest to bring
up; so it may not be friendly enough for all:
<http://ytdl-org.github.io/youtube-dl/>
in the past, it's yielded sound encoded with opus rather than aac or
m4a. testing today it got h.264 / aac. the brew package manager (for
mac users) found several other tools, including
<https://www.mediahuman.com/youtube-to-mp3-converter/>
<https://www.macxdvd.com/free-youtube-video-downloader-mac/>
neither of which i've tried.
