RADIO FRIENDS ~

This is has been such a strange and difficult year for us all. Each of 
our stations facing the same National Emergencies and many of our very 
own.  We are just a month away from the Election of our lifetime and the 
freedoms we cherished in this country seem on the verge of collapse.  
Now, more than ever, it is important that we come together, use the 
power of our frequencies to push through this very difficult time and 
build a better society.

If you agree, I encourage you to attend the 2020 Grassroots Radio 
Conference Virtual Summit next weekend, Oct.9 - 11th.  While we had 
hoped to host you all in Louisville (and it would have been a very 
exciting time to do so) we do think this virtual meeting is turning into 
a truly remarkable event.  From the radio history to hands-on workshops, 
this session will have something for everyone involved with college and 
community radio -- and even those who are not!

You may have heard that CHUCK D of PUBLIC ENEMY will be speaking on 
Friday night about Radio and the Justice Movement. Other amazing 
Keynotes include Radio Legend Ken Freedman sharing his experience 
keeping WFMU live through various emergency situations. Will Oldham and 
Jon Langford of the mighty Mekons with join Rmllw2llz and Jessica Linker 
for a discussion of live music during the age of Covid.

Daytime conference sessions will be equally engaging.  We will start 
with a historical panel about the role of radio in fight against Fascism 
and end with a roundtable discussing steps Community Radio stations can 
take to become more inclusive.  There will be a session on keeping your 
studio safe during the pandemic from Dr. MarkAlain Déry, Physician of 
Infectious Diseases and Epidemiologist and founder of WHIV New Orleans. 
You will also learn the tools of remote broadcasting that we have 
employed here at WXOX to take our entire station live and remote.  To 
top it off, there will be evening entertainment including live music 
from our home base in Louisville!   A little teaser until we are able to 
bring you here in person . . .

This will be a star-studded GRC like never before and we are thankful to 
have this virtual platform to connect with our radio friends from around 
the world.  During the conference, there will be some social time as 
well for you to network and talk shop.  So please get your registration
