******Calling all podcasters, radio producers and enthusiasts, and audio
artists!******
You're invited to pitch a 29-minute or 58-minute radio program for
KPFA's International Women’s Day programming.
March 8 International Women’s Day 2022 will be here before we know it.
On that day folks all over the world will be further exposing the
terrible conditions facing women and celebrating achievements and
successes of women’s movements and women-led movements. Once again, KPFA
94.1FM will be a media presence.
We are now soliciting pitches for women-centered programming that will
air during our 24-hour International Women’s Day special on Sunday,
March 13th 2022. This will be after the actual date, so we will be able
to include news of events that happened on the day around the world.
UN Women has chosen as this year’s theme, “Gender equality today for a
sustainable tomorrow.” We at KPFA also add #FeministsResistTheRight;
#ImagineFeministFutures; and #FeministsforGenuineSecurity. You can use
those to frame your pitch and choose any topic you think will compel
folks to listen and learn, to imagine possibilities, and, ultimately, to
get involved in shaping the future of the Bay Area and the worlds beyond.
We welcome a variety of formats: Public Affairs, Music, Poetry, Art,
Culture, Radio Theater, Documentary.
WE ARE SEEKING:
*
Creative programming that incorporates voices and perspectives of
women, particularly those not typically heard (or produced) on the
airwaves.
*
ORIGINALLY produced audio that incorporates or considers topics
below BUT please feel free to invent your own. As you conceptualize
your show, please keep in mind two things—the complexity of race,
class, gender, nationality, sexuality, ability, language, for
example, and the ways folks are organizing and creating change.
Possible topics include:
*
Updates of the impacts of COVID pandemic on women in both the global
North and South. This could include such topics as pandemic
parenting, women as essential workers, vaccine apartheid,
militarized responses and gender, for example.
*
Global warming specifically and climate change generally
*
Women’s reproductive justice and freedom
*
Housing crisis and houseless-ness Bay Area/nationally
*
Militarism, military spending, China, Korean Peninsula
*
Women’s Rights is Human Rights: housing, criminalization and
incarceration, reproductive justice; guaranteed income and liveable
wages; migration and immigration.
*
Visions of a gender equitable and enabled world that would address
the interests of ALL women
*
Gender Non-binary and Trans Inclusion
*
White women's anti-racist activism
*
Women of Color perspectives
*
Islamophobia and Muslim perspectives
*
Faith-based feminist activist leadership
*
Girls, childhood, motherhood, our mothers
*
Feminisms: transnational feminism, abolition, womanism,
eco-feminism, Black feminism, for example.
*
History of Feminism-Feminism 101
*
Women Firsts or Feats (did men take the credit?)
*
Rape culture, sexual violence, and feminists creating
change: transformative justice as response?
*
State-sanctioned violence
*
