[grc] LPFM Window - PEOPLE GET READY!!!

ATTENTION Friends of Community Radio,

This November 1 - 8, the FCC will open a new LOW POWER FM application 
Window.

During this time, nonprofit organizations will be have the rare 
opportunity to build new radio station and get local voices on the FM 
dial!

THERE ARE JUST a FEW MONTHS before the window opens. Therefore, WE ALL 
need to work as hard as possible to get the word out and CLAIM THESE 
FREQUENCIES FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

It is possible that the most important thing you can do for Democracy 
right now is TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW about this opportunity and encourage 
them to apply. Spread the word at record stores, music venues, community 
centers, educational institutions, and more!  The frequencies that are 
not claimed by local nonprofits will likely go to church groups and 
commercial translators.  THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY (at least 
anytime soon).

Over the past six months I have been working on an LPFM HANDBOOK that 
makes building and operating an LPFM Radio Station easy and fun!  
Contributors include community radio giants such as Pete Tridish (Radio 
Mutiny), Ursula Rudenberg (Pacifica Affiliates Network), David Klann 
(Broadcast Tool & Die), and Todd Urick (Common Frequency). While the 
book is LPFM specific, it has good advice & interesting antidotes for 
everyone involved with community radio!

The manuscript is currently in the final editorial phase and will be 
print just ahead of the LPFM window. Copies are available for pre-order

Once their applications are approved, the nonprofit organizations will 
have THREE YEARS to get their station on the air.  The important thing 
now is just to GET THOSE APPLICATIONS submitted during the upcoming 
window -- they can figure the rest out from there!
