Everyone who is curious about applying for an LPFM frequency is welcome to attend. At this webinar, Sharon Scott, Author of Low Power FM for Dummies (that's me) and Todd Urick, Director of Engineering at Common Frequency will be providing information about the LPFM application process and answering any questions you may have. Zoom Invite Below. The FCC will open a window for Low Power FM radio stations this December 6 - 13. During this time, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and tribal groups will be able to apply for FM licenses in their local area. This is the first time in 10 years the FCC has opened an LPFM window and it may be the last nationwide opportunity for nonprofits to get on the FM dial. It is IMPERATIVE that we, the free media network, work hard to get the word out about this LPFM window. This may be our last chance to grow our FM forces exponentially. We should be using every resource possible to encourage nonprofits to claim these frequencies while they still can. Otherwise, they will invariably end up in the hands of our corporate enemies. IT IS TRULY NOW OR NEVER. LPFM licenses will be available in most rural areas and mid-sized cities. Opportunities in crowded urban areas will be more limited. The government charges no fee to apply for or to hold an LPFM license. There is still time to establish a nonprofit organization if you do not have one already. You can learn more on the website: LPFM Resources https://lpfmresources.com/ Organizations will have three years to build and finance their station. If they decide not to move forward, they will be able to transfer their license to another qualifying nonprofit. If these airwaves are not claimed by community groups now, they will be lost forever. Don't let this valuable opportunity slip away! It is imperative that interested parties apply this December ~ join us on November 15th to find out how! **************** Virtual GRC is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Zoom Invite Below. Please share in all your circles. THERE IS STILL TIME & WE ARE STILL SEEKING NONPROFITS NATIONWIDE TO APPLY!!!! I just posted this article in Radio World that explains exactly what they will need to do to prepare for the LPFM application Window (Dec 6-13). It's not too much work and nonprofits will have THREE YEARS to build their station. Thanks to Michelle Bradely at REC Networks and Todd Urick at Common Frequency for their editorial help. Applying for a Low-Power FM Station: Gathering All the Pieces https://www.radioworld.com/columns-and-views/low-power-fm/applying-for-a-low-power-fm-station-gathering-all-the-pieces -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Nov. 15: LPFM Webinar for Interested Parties Date: 2023-11-07 18:34 From: Sharon Scott To: _GRC list Cc: nceorg at lists.prometheusradio.org Attention Community Media Advocates ~ ARTxFM & Common Frequency will host a NATIONWIDE MEETING about the upcoming LPFM application window on Wednesday, Nov. 15th at 8 PM Eastern / 5 PM Pacific.
