A major technological hurdle has been overcome in bringing audio
recording to the masses. A new level of lo-fidelity has also possibly
been reached. While the technique still requires a laser to etch the
surface, the recording media is inexpensive and can be used to feed
those who are hungry after it is no longer needed for playback. Data
retention lengths are variable and highly dependent on the nearby supply
of meat, cheese, beans, and chilies.
