| Dear Donna,
Wimberley Valley Radio received excellent news since our last newsletter, and swiftly filled two key positions.
KWVH 94.1 FM Receives Burdine Johnson Foundation Grant
The Burdine Johnson Foundation announced on Monday that Wimberley Valley Radio's application for a grant had been successful. Recognizing the importance of broadcast media to providing an early warning in an emergency and assisting survivors and the community with recovery, the foundation awarded $25,000 to the station. The Burdine Johnson Foundation has a long history of supporting a variety of worthy projects in Hays County.
The funds will allow KWVH to acquire equipment and station software, and more.

| Volunteer Coordinator, Program Director Join Team
Wimberley Valley Radio is delighted to announce that Elaine Cardenas has signed on to be the Volunteer Coordinator for KWVH. Elaine Cardenas settled in Wimberley in November of 2014. She is founder and CEO of Dos Lobos Analytics, LLC, a business specializing in research support services, market research and ethnographic studies. Her PhD in Cultural Studies and her MBA were earned from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She obtained a BA in English with a minor in Radio, Television and Film from California State University, Northridge.
Likewise, the station is pleased to announce that Arthur Badavas has agreed to serve as Program Director. Moving Forward to Stay on the Air
On Monday, June 29, KWVH will be off the air for a few hours (weather permitting) to replace the antenna borrowed from Austin Airwaves with the model specified in the station's Construction Permit. Once the preferred antenna is in place, the station intends to take steps to stay on the air. After some early equipment problems, the station is now on solid footing with its broadcast. The grant will allow KWVH to purchase important equipment to make it easier to schedule new content and communicate between the studio and the transmitter.
Please let others know about Wimberley's new community radio station and forward this newsletter to friends and family in the area.

President of WVR Interviewed on National Radio Show "Sprouts"
Sprouts, a half-hour radio show with a national distribution, featured KWVH'sbirth in the aftermath of the Memorial Day Weekend floods. Show hosts Ursula Ruedenberg and Matthew Hurley interviewed Board President & Acting GM Susan Raybuck, as well as Austin Airwaves' Jim Ellinger, one of two engineers and tech folks who drove to Wimberley in a blinding thunderstorm, braved fierce lightning and a flooded low water crossing with equipment they had in stock to ensure that KWVH could broadcast emergency information. It's quite a story, and you can listen to it here. Event Info
