Do you have any produced material in your area covering the Black Lives
Matter movement? *Sprouts* is seeking coverage of the Black Lives Matter
movement from Pacifica affiliate stations and independent producers to use
in creating a 29-minute program. If you have such coverage, please contact
us by writing to ursula at pacifica.org.
We are accepting a variety of material—preferably three to five minutes in
length—but are willing to work with stories of any length.
*Sprouts: Radio from the Grassroots* is a 29-minute weekly program
coordinated out of the Pacifica Affiliates office, dedicated to showcasing
radio content produced at community radio stations and independent
production groups. *Sprouts* celebrates grassroots voices and is renowned
for bringing diverse topics to national and international audiences. It is
an open door for when grassroots radio producers wish to easily get
widespread attention for a particular production, story, or issue.
Participating producers are provided with simple production instructions
including the introduction and closing script and music, as well as
assistance, if needed.
*Sprouts* is distributed by Pacifica Radio and is free of charge to all
radio stations. The program is aired regularly by 40-50 radio stations in
the United States, Canada, and Europe. The program is also aired by many
other stations on an irregular basis, depending upon the topic.
Contributing a production to Sprouts is an excellent way to bring a
worthwhile production piece to a wider audience and to let people know
about great production and reporting in grassroots radio. It is an
excellent way to get an important story or issue to a wide audience.
To listen to examples of Sprouts shows, go to http://audioport.org/ and
search "Sprouts.” No password is needed.
