Hello!
We’re excited for National Radio Day, and August 20th is right around the
corner!
Last year’s stats:
-
55 noncommercial radio stations and 35 cities across the US participated.
-
The #NationalRadioDay hashtag was trending all day on Twitter with
22,000 tweets.
-
Instagram saw 3000 posts tagged #NationalRadioDay.
There are countless ways big and small to participate, with full event
postings and more available at our website: NationalRadioDay.com
<http://www.nationalradioday.com>.
You can find other stations who are throwing events, let us know what your
station is up to, share Sonic IDs, and get National Radio Day graphics to
use on your own website or social media.
We encourage you to host your own National Radio Day event. Brown Paper
Tickets can help you build a media list to pitch to as it’s an easy news
peg. They can help review your press release or media alert draft, problem
solve any obstacles you are facing with promoting your event, and curate a
media contact list. You do not need to use their ticketing service to get
this assistance.

Here are 5 fun and easy event ideas for your station:
1.
Have an open house and give a tour to your listeners.
2.
Invite community members to a volunteer orientation so that they can get
involved.
3.
Have a favorite concert venue? If they already have a show going on that
night, ask if you can partner up to make it a National Radio Day event -
they add it to their promotion material and you give away tickets on air.
4.
It will likely be a beautiful Saturday. Find a place with a lot of foot
traffic that you can table at - you can talk with local businesses like an
independent record store about setting up outside their space or a table at
a farmer’s market.
5.
Have your DJs do a meet and greet with listeners! You can partner with a
coffee shop or bar - you publicize on air the time and place and the venue
can play the station over their sound system (and maybe even donate some of
that night’s revenue).
And these are just a few ideas! If you have any questions, want assistance
with creating Sonic IDs, or want to get more involved, please feel free to
send us an email at hello at nationalradioday.com.
Love,
The 2016 National Radio Day Team
