[grc] HOSTING GRC - Zachary from KUHS please take special note

The GRC has a very open process for planning conferences. To help the
process be more successful, a number of GRC alumni met recently to talk
over how we could assist and support the process.
W e suggest this process for finding each year's host:
1. A station becomes interested in hosting
2. The station uses the self-audit checklist - to be provided - to
determine whether they really want to go ahead with hosting and whether
they have the capacity
2. If the station decides they have the capacity and the desire to host,
they will announce this to the GRC list serve and explain how they have
capacity, based on the check-list.
3. This will basically be on a first-come first serve basis; the GRC list
serve being the venue to give notice.
As we have seen, KUHS-LP 97.9 FM in Hot Springs AK has announced on the
list serve that they wish to host (see below). Thank you.
Zachary, would you and your colleagues at KUHS be willing to help us
develop these support materials by being the first station to use our
self-audit check list? Of course it will be an imperfect first attempt but
doing this with you will help the process along immensely and help you
clarify things as well.
These are things that can be developed to support the GRC conference
process. We have listed them (below) Your feedback is, of course, welcome:
*- A defined process for deciding on the next GRC host that is clear to all
with an** available guide for all to understand the process*
*- Support documents & start-up funds to help the next host*
*- A web site to use for making GRC documents available (start-up docs and
information from workshops)*
*- Guidelines/code of conduct for inclusiveness and awareness to support
diversity*
*- A check-list for stations to self-audit while deciding whether to host
the conference*
Respectfully,

I am Zachary Smith, general manager of KUHS-LP 97.9 FM <
http://kuhsradio.org/> We got our license to cover in August as Arkansas’s
first and only Solar Powered radio station. We are a project of Low Key
Arts <http://lowkeyarts.org/> a community arts organization in Hot Springs
AR.
We would like to host the Grassroots Rood venueadio Conference for 2016.
Jim Ellinger suggested us on the Stubblefield list, and after some emails
and phone calls, it is my understanding that we are on the (very?) short
list.
Our steering committee reconvened recently to boot this effort up, set
dates, and make sure that we are on track to throw a great conference.
This is our official bid to host GRC 2016. What happens next?
