Dear Lisa,
Best greetings from rainy Uganda!
Thanks so much for sharing my email/request with people who are involved in
the community media sector as supporters, broadcasters etc.
Hello Community Media Team,
As you might have read from Lisa's forwarded email, I contacted her with my
request after reading through her work that involves community in the
production and presentation of programmes to show commitment to
highlighting their voices and also such work demonstrates new ideas on how
to address socio-economic issues by providing a platform to discover
community opinions, see their perspectives and listen to their stories and
testimonies.
The email that I sent to Lisa and she shared with you is below, I look
forward to hearing from you.
I wish you all the best as you continue to facilitate effective
communication network between community and their stake holders using
multi-media approaches, with no doubt such efforts create greater awareness
of the need for community mainstreaming in development policies and
strategies
With my kindest regards,
Ojok Moses Ricky
Dear Lisa,
Best greetings from Uganda.
My name is Ojok Moses Ricky, a founder and director of Genehen Broadcasting
Services.
Genehen Broadcasting Services (GBS) is a small media consultancy
established in 2013 and based in Northern Uganda.
I came across your email contact from a website refer the link
http://www.radioproject.org/aboutus/people/. I commend you for the great
work, I am an admirer of the kind of work you do to engage
audience/community.
GBS majority of work relates to working with media especially community
oriented radios aid agencies training staff on audience research,
marketing, programmes production.
Genehen Broadcasting Services (GBS) in conjunction with Audience Dialogue,
Australia, trained and supported 12 community/local radio stations in
Uganda with funding from Stem van Afrika, Netherlands in collaboration with
Catholic Media Council (CAMECO), Germany and Uganda Episcopal Conference in
the area of audience research from July 2014 – December 2014.
>From December 8th – 10th 2014 trained and supported Deutsche Welle
Akadamie, Germany two partner radio stations In Jinja town, Uganda on the
improvement in audience knowledge, use of information and marketing
effectiveness.
Currently, GBS is undertook a small audience research for an Anglican
church founded Christian radio called Voice of Life FM based in North West
Uganda.
GBS continues to witness information gaps as most radios do not engage/air
audience needs and preferences and would like to get into community
oriented broadcasting and our service will broaden the range of local
services provided in this area or locality and be of a nature or have a
content distinct from that of any local broadcast services already
operating in this area and services provided primarily for the good of
members of the public/communities and in order to deliver social gain.
I am asking for assistance with equipment that any radio station you know
may be having and can be donated to me especially the ones they are no
longer using – left over when their equipment was upgraded to a
better/faster/easier-to-use system. In most cases, i need the equipment to
be working, or repairable. In particular, my immediate radio needs include:
-
Transmission and studio equipment
Or if you come across or know anyone (well wisher) who may help me to
purchase the modest equipment, please contact:
