[grc] Big tech question from new LPFM

Congrats on KLLG-LP!
And getting an older EAS unit, which is better than no EAS even though
it probably doesn't handle the newest stuff.
If you cannot get the program-interrupt unit, a handy electronics person
could probably make you one in a few hours, as I doubt it is much more
than a couple of DPDT reed relays and resistors. A nice case and
appearance
would drive up the time and cost and I'd say is unnecessary since it is
only temporary... "dead bug" construction and hot-melt glue could work
fine.
If you get the DASDEC unit you can save money by using free/cheap
external radios
which will tune the required monitoring stations. Ideally they'd also
have
an audio-out jack to make it easier to send the audio to the DASDEC
without
opening them up to wire in your own cable. I doubt there are many left
but
sometimes pawn shops have old component-stereo radio tuners for cheap,
some of
which can even be rack mounted. Just need to be sure that whatever radio
is
relatively stable in its tuning, and remembers what station it is on
after
power failure.
