It is with great sadness that I copy you all on the following email which
went out to FSRN affiliate stations Friday.

FSRN Stations,


Three years after debuting our Weekly Edition, it is with very heavy hearts
we inform you that Friday April 28th, 2017, FSRN will publish the last
Weekly Edition.


It’s been an honor to serve your audiences and to be a part of the very
important work you do informing and educating your communities. We respect
your stations, your staff and volunteers, and your members’ commitment to
exposing wrongdoing, repression and corruption, and highlighting the
individuals, campaigns and movements that work every day to bring about a
more just and equitable society.


We are particularly disheartened to go dark in the current political
climate, when the stories we cover regularly are so urgently needed. We
understand that those of you who receive funds from CPB face losing that
support, which further imperils your ability to serve your audience with
credible, well-produced national and international content.


But amid the myriad challenges facing all of us in the independent media
space, our staff of two – plus a dedicated but very part time tech producer
– we simply can’t develop the resources necessary to support our work while
producing the content you need.


Even with your carriage fees and our individual supporters, FSRN has not
found adequate funding to sustain our production costs moving forward.


If you have any questions or pending communications, please be in touch
before May 1, 2017, so we can get back to you promptly. Communications
beyond that date should go to editors at fsrn.org, which will be more closely
monitored during the behind-the-scenes shutdown period.
