[grc] Trouble with Winamp

Actually, I had used Winamp as "automation" for a streaming station for
awhile.

But, Winamp is a MP3 player, not a radio automation system.

I would strongly suggest considering running Rivendell. Rivendell runs
under Linux and may have a few challenges to install but once it is
going, it is rock solid. Rivendell is free and there's quite a few of
us on this list who are running it.

If we do get a Grassroots Radio Conference this year (which will likely
be on the east coast), I would strongly suggest attending. We normally
have workshops on Rivendell.

We are using Winamp and have experienced fairly continuous problems with freezing and garbling and speeding up. We are in the station for several hours in the weekday mornings and most evenings. Often, when programmers arrive, Winamp is frozen. We usually can reboot and get it started, but it seems to be freezing more and more often and at present, will not allow CDs and the mic to play through it.
