Hi Everyone,

I need some information about compatibility between tranzeo and ubiquiti
devices for a longer range link.

Right now we're using tranzeo tr5 plus N units on our long hop (5
miles)to our transmitter. The tranzeo units have functioned well, but
after almost 10 years we're having problems with replacement units.
These units have an "N" connector which connects via LMR 400 to a 30db
parabolic grid antenna 100 feet up our tower. The tranzeo unit at the
transmitter site is in the transmitter building so we can change it out
without a tower climb.

I've noticed that Ubiquiti has a bullet 5 unit that sounds pretty good
and is quite affordable. Can it be substituted at the tower site and
still connect to the existing tranzeo at the other end? Do they play
well together? If not would the best solution be to substitute a bullet
5 at each end of the link? Would they do the same thing as the tranzeos?

(More background if this is something you can help with): The other end
of the long link is on top of a 5 story building and the tranzeo is
mounted outside. Originally we used a 23db panel version of the tranzeo
at that point. A couple of years ago we changed that to a 5 plus N which
now connects almost directly into a 30db grid antenna. We didn't
accomplish much with that change. We do have fairly easy access to this
unit as well.

The tranzeo units are easy to remotely access and change settings. Are
the ubiquiti units easy to configure?

Thanks for any help or advice. Please respond off list as I'm sure this
isn't all that interesting to most. My email is myron at kz88.org

Thanks again!
