WFMU, an independent non-commercial radio station in Jersey City, New
Jersey, seeks a creative, motivated individual with background in
independent music and non-commercial radio to oversee WFMU’s Music
Department. The Music Director will oversee the procurement and
organization of recordings for the WFMU Music Libraries, maintains
relationships with artists, record labels and radio stations and oversee
music-related activities and events for WFMU. Candidates must have a strong
understanding of WFMU’s musical culture, music sites, venues, record labels
and online music sites. Must be extremely knowledgeable about many types of
music, have excellent writing and organizational skills and have the
ability to supervise interns, staff and volunteers. Some background in
public broadcasting required.
