When Fire Strikes, Lake County Turns to an Old Technology for Information

KPFZ is the only community radio station rural in Lake County. Most of the hosts are volunteers, retirees with local programs. But in recent years, Lake County has been hit by wildfire after wildfire. And the station has started hosting call-in programs to relay updates from officials, share information and report on the fires. KQED’s Sam Harnett tells us how KPFZ became a lifeline for the community.
