[grc] Podcasting app?

I second Podcast Generator, with a few notes. I recently installed it so
that DJs at a small Philly station can record at home, upload as a podcast,
and the automation can automatically run the latest version. Because many
are music shows, the web site is private.

A single installation can handle a single show with multiple episodes, and
one user+password combination. Since the station has many shows, with
multiple episodes, I worked around the limitation by installing P-G once
per show using different URLs. Clumsy but expedient.

The default max upload size limit -- not the PHP one but the one in P-G --
is around 100 MB, which will need to be larger for stereo shows over an
hour.

File names can't contain many characters by default, like dashes for
example, which is frustrating when your show has a dash in its file name
and you don't find out until you tried to upload. There's a setting to
change that in the P-G config file.

Because there's only one user per show, some natural things for a radio
station like having a program director be able to manipulate any show while
DJs can only manipulate their show, aren't really feasible. A single
podcast (RSS/XML) by genre or just to pick up the latest content across a
whole station, isn't doable.

It's clearly a work in progress.

I tried hard to avoid throwing a Big Solution at this problem, but it's
going to come up again a few more times and I may bite the bullet. The
Drupal CMS has all the multi-dimensional categorizations, role-based users,
multiple users, the ability to make some podcasts private and others public
in intelligent ways, password recovery etc etc and can produce RSS feeds
out of the box, but they need a little tweek to be "podcasts". But I really
thought I got out of the business of setting up Drupal sites, and
especially dislike trying to do major Drupal upgrades on heavily-customized
sites.
