[grc] Does anyone remember the names of this software?

Hi GRC,

As an educator, I love that Audacity is free, but there are two features that make it hard for beginners:

1. You have to build you own folder hierarchy, and if you screw it up you loose your project. This is supposed to be fixed with the new release, but I have not tried it.

2. When you clip a track on one end for a cross-fade, you cannot recover where you cut to expand it back out again in the event that you cut into the person talking. Digital editing is non-destructive, and other programs allow this function, but Audacity has instituted a destructive editing process in their code that requires that you start over with a new file import to expand the excerpt envelope for a clip. Boo...

PS: I miss cool edit and sound forge! What a blast from the past. Those were the days...

I now teach Hindenburg when I am able to get free licenses for students, as the interface is amazing for public affairs programming.

Hi, Frieda et al.:

What do you not like about Audacity that drives you to look at commercial alternatives?
