The GRASSROOTS RADIO CONFERENCE is unlike any other event in the world!  
It is an annual gathering where members of college and community radio 
stations can come together in commaradarie to share ideas, technology, 
and resources.

Traditionally, the Grassroots Radio Conference is hosted by a different 
college or community radio station in a new part of the country each 
year. This allows the community radio world to travel to a unique 
destination and get a peak behind the scenes of a different radio set up 
each year. But not always.  Decidedly freeform and anti-authoritarian 
each year's conference takes on an identity that reflects the unique 
character of the hosting station. The event has taken place in the fall 
recently but used to be in the summer.  It will be up to the host 
station to determine when the conference takes place.  Any community or 
college radio station is welcome to apply but they will need to provide 
classrooms for the conference sessions and a large assembly area for 
main events.  The conference should be easy to attend and accommodations 
should be available in the area.

When the host station is selected, they get $1500 seed money and the 
beautiful GRC Quilt.  Once the conference is over, the station passes 
along those items to the next host station but can keep any additional 
revenue.  This is a a great team builder for your staff as well as a 
great way to bring some local support and national attention to your 
station.   The senior members of the GRC community can offer as much -- 
or as little -- help and advice as you want in the organization of the 
conference but you will steer the ship as it is always beautiful to see 
how each station makes it their own!

2024 should be a big year for the conference since there will be so many 
new LPFM stations waiting to happen!
