Al,
Can you please stop impeding progress for the sake of impeding progress?
GRC 2023 happened because Sharon took the initiative to ask around, and
as many of those who attended would agree, it was a great conference
even though it was planned in a short timeframe -- props to the folks
from WTSQ for making it happen!
I don't think at the moment we have 8 million stations volunteering to
host GRC 2024, so I doubt that anyone would have much "selection" to do
anyhow!
As far as involving elders of the GRC, "someone who has had a major role
in putting on the conference, in the past," isn't that what the steering
committee was trying to achieve by pulling in folks from past conference
host stations???
It's honestly exhausting to read all of this back and forth on the list
-- that's not the point of this listserv. The point is to support and
push forward community radio, which is accomplished by having
conferences! Not arguments.
I wanted to stay out of this, but I felt compelled to respond because
this back and forth needs to stop, and we need to redirect our efforts
towards having a conference and supporting whatever station ends up
hosting this year.
