Al Davis, thank you for your insights. I like the origin of the GRC. I did
not know these details.
It makes wonderful sense.What with zoom/google, potential host stations can
meet to decide
the annual hosting schedule and seek advice and support from former hosts.
I like not using the Steering Committee as the section body. The
application form has important
questions such as available accommodations for 100 or more attendees and
vendors. My
community has 1 cafe that seats 20 and has to-go, 1 motel with 24 rooms, a
2.5 hr drive from
the nearest airfield. We would partner with other Humboldt county stations
to co-host on the coast.
I believe the thinking process is asking stations to apply by mid March and
decide by the last
Friday of March to announce the GRC site. I think a deadline to apply is
reasonable. The event
date would be a decision of the host. Ample time would need to be given for
stations to
arrange travel away from their daily tasks..
