[grc] filing for a CP extension...

We are wondering if we would inadvertently (thru our ignorance of the
process) open ourselves to petitions or other paperwork objections to
getting our station on-air if we file for the one-time 18-month
extension. That is, if we file for it, will some disgruntled, embittered
naysayer (who is familiar with FCC regs and process, let's say) then be
given an opportunity to slow or even stop, entirely, our station from
getting on-air?
Our understanding is that filing for the (up to) 18-month extension is a
pro forma, normal thing-- one doesn't have to assert or demonstrate good
progress made, or unforeseen, act-of-god/big business delay-- we just
file, and we get it. True?
And we understand that we can file at any time during the clock of our
CP, as long as we file at least two weeks before the expiration of our
CP, correct?

P.S. And a big hey there and howdy to all the super-lovely folks we met
at GRC!
