KMUD makes audio recordings of board meetings, and I think they are valuable for the reasons you mention, plus for accurate minutes.
We don't put them on the website. Our policy is to keep CDs for two years, provide them to board members, and also to anyone who requests them for a reasonable fee.
A talk show on station issues is also a good idea, ours is sometimes Board and Staff.
Transparency is worth its weight in gold. If the community feels "in the loop," its support will of course be stronger.
